Rad Martinez Wiki

Rad Martinez is a wrestler who competed at the Division 1 school Clarion University.  He currently trains at The Pit Elevated alongside UFC fighters Ramsey Nijem, "Super" Steven Siler, and Court "The Crusher" McGee. He was featured on ESPN's "Outside the Lines" in 2011. The episode focused on him juggling his MMA career while also caring for his paraplegic father. He began his professional career by going 9-2 on the West Coast circuit. His fights included a tko victory over UFC veteran Joe Brammer's and a hard fought loss to UFC and Sengoku veteran Brian Cobb.

Martinez made his Bellator debut against fellow debuting fighter Brian van Hoven in a lightweight match. He showed excellent striking technique to keep van Hoven on the defensive. He was able to secure takedowns and slams at will to win every round. On the ground, he worked some ground and pound but was ineffectual overall which resulted in multiple standups. In the final round, he was rocked but was able to secure a takedown in order to secure the unanimous decision victory.

In his next Bellator fight, he made his featherweight debut against Doug Frey. Despite Frey having a five inch height and two and a half inch reach advantage, he was unable to land any effective striking or control the fight. Martinez landed multiple tight hooks and eventually knocked down his opponent with a flurry and finished the fight quickly on the ground to secure a first round tko victory. This performance secured him a spot in Bellator's next Featherweight tournament.

His next fight took place after a seven month layoff. He would fight previous tournament semifinalist Nazareno Malegarie and defeat him by Unanimous Decision. In his next match he faced Wagnney Fabiano and beat him by unanimous decision sending him to the tournament finals against Shahbulat Shamhalaev where he would lose by tko.
