You may be right. Lacerda probably needs to absolutely steamroll Chairez to really make a case he deserves to remain on the roster.

Lacerda is just constantly in firefights so he gets a lot of leeway. He said that he's gonna fight smarter here, which is probably ********, but I don't think that's gonna help him since Chairez is a really game dude who's done pretty well against good prospects like Taira and Carpenter.

Prediction Comments

Predictions: 7 of 11 Winners, 5 Perfect, 590 Points   |   Tied for 167th

Grasso vs. Shevchenko II
Alexa Grasso, DEC
Very close fight that's probably going to be 3-2 and could be a split. Shevchenko will go back to the grappling at some point in this fight and will all but certainly be more prepared for Grassos exceptional handspeed and footwork. Grasso was landing good shots and might steal moments/rounds of this fight as long as she can keep it on the feet. Sometimes the younger fighter just has your number and that might be the case here. I don't think it's as simple as saying "Shevchenko won't throw a bad kick again". She made a bad mistake because she panicked, and she panicked because she threw the entire kitchen sink at Grasso up until that point and none of it was effective as she thought it'd be.

Holland vs. Maddalena
Kevin Holland, TKO, R3
Absolute banger. 50/50 fight for me but I can't pick JDM against somebody like Holland just yet. As good a striker JDM is, he's fighting somebody who's arguably just as talented with 8inches of reach. JDM might not see the final bell here but he's definitely talented and durable enough to make this fight really, really close.

Rosas Jr. vs. Mitchell
Raul Rosas Jr., SUB, R1
Terrence Mitchell is speed running his UFC contract.

Zellhuber vs. Giagos
Daniel Zellhuber, SUB, R2
Very similar fight to Padilla vs. Nelson but up a weight class. Giagos is at an even bigger reach disadvantage and will be lucky to see the final bell. Zellhuber seems overdue for a finish. I think he drops Giagos at some point and never lets him get back up.

Padilla vs. Nelson
Fernando Padilla, DEC
Nelson is a scrappy bastard. I think he's probably going to force Padilla to work a lot harder to get a win here than he did in his last fight. Padilla wins this fight 9/10 IMO. Nelson is going to struggle badly at range. Padilla uses his reach well and is very accurate. Nelson has the experience and fight IQ to make this fight messy but I think Padilla wins this fight on damage if he doesn't find a late finish.

Godinez vs. Reed
Lupita Godinez, SUB, R2
Loopy should steamroll Reed who is a borderline UFC caliber fighter. However, Loopy has a bad habit of somewhat fighting at her opponents level. She shouldn't do that here because she's pretty much better than Reed at everything.

Kopylov vs. Fremd
Roman Kopylov, TKO, R2
Fremd will try to clinch and close distance to avoid getting pieced up but I think it's only going to work for but so long. If this fight goes the distance Fremd is going to look rough at the end. The striking skill difference here is pretty wide.

Cháirez vs. Lacerda
Edgar Cháirez, TKO, R2
Lacerda probably going to make this fun for about 7 minutes or so and is live inside the first round. Chairez has survived initial onslaughts from better competition so I think he gets a finish after weathering some adversity early. Really hard to take Lacerda in general but his loss to Vergara was especially hard to watch. He pretty much had that fight in the bag and just completely fumbled it.

Cortez vs. Jasudavicius
Tracy Cortez, DEC
60/40 Cortez for me. Very close fight. Cortez has to be aggressive early.

Campbell vs. Reyes
Charlie Campbell, TKO, R1
Ooooof.

Knutsson vs. Mann
Josefine Knutsson, TKO, R2
Kinda lopsided IMO. Mann needs a hail mary sub to pull this off. She's going to get pieced up.

My first generous advice ....

Anyone picking Jasmine over Cortez... please slap yourself and reconsider.

Anyone thinking Chairez is a lock, please consider the error of your ways.

Anyone picking Fremd over Kopylov (and I know there are a lot of you!) Please slap yourself again and change your pick.

Finally anyone picking Holland over JDM... you still have time to correct your mistake. It's not too late ...
