The WW division is my favorite.  It's the deepest Shark Tank in MMA. GSP is my favorite fighter now that Randy Couture has retired.  Diego Sanchez is my 2nd favorite.

The Top Tier is amazing:  GSP, Fitch, Penn, Shields.  And the rising stars are the most promising of any division: Condit, MacDonald, Ellenberger, Kampmann, Hathaway, Kim, Story, Sadollah, Brenneman, Hendricks, Ebersole. How do you rank them?

I did it!!!  I followed the procedure that Gregory and buffalo ben told me to and it actually worked!!  I am just so happy I could cry.  This is a big accomplishment for me, guys.  Now I can do this when I want to discuss the various weight divisions.  You guys were just so right.  So much better this way!  Yay for me!

In determining the 2nd place figher, the question is: What is better, former champ with a 20something second KO of a mid tier fighter, or lackluster grinder with enourmous win streak?

The WW division is a sick one for sure...just a few months ago we were all saying how GSP has cleared it out and now there are several more contenders for him!

???  Is that the clearest, most perceptive way to look at that?  OK.  You asked a direct question, and I think you're entitled to a direct answer.

BJ - Loses 2 in a row to a very small LW, looks terrible against Fitch, and has a MUCH worse W-L record.

Fitch - Hasn't lost since his loss to GSP, didn't quit in his GSP loss, pounded BJ in the 3rd round of their fight, beat a big WW in Alves in what was touted as a fight to determine top condender, and can anyone on Planet Earth possibly image Frankie Edgar beating Jon Fitch???  Not in a gazillion years, my good friend.

You know I respect your MMA opinions off the chart, but everyone has the right to defend an impossible position.  I like your rankings of 1,5, 7, 9.  But I wish you switched 2 & 3, and dropped Kos to 9 or 10.

i got condit on 2 because he's fighting for the title soon, he could be on 1 in a few weeks, also i see the winner of penn/diaz as the new contender, then against gsp or maybe condit, so fitch is on 5 with his match against hendricks wich is unfair but i see it going this way, if fitch would fight ellenberger next it would make more sense to me....

I agree with live2wrestle.  And @redkayak, those are some funky rankings.  The only way they'd get funkier is if you had Askren at #5.

by the end of the year things should be sorted out in this division...i would think at least who knows, but the 2 fights at 137 plus Ellenberger/Sanchez and Story/Kampmann should put some question marks to bed

Just a quick note.  In general, I think Koscheck is over-rated and Sanchez is under-rated.  Diego wasn't 100% when they met.  I feel for Diego.  He is now in the unenviable position of gate-keeper.  If he wins against an exciting, rising star, he'll receive no career bump, and if he loses, he loses too much credibility.

Diego is now in an impossible position.  They will only feed him guys on their way up, with lesser names than him.  They'll get the bump, he won't.  And Koscheck is in somewhat the same position.  There is no way I can justify ranking Josh over Diego.  Can anyone explain it to me, as if I were 10 years old?  Leaving their last fight to the side for the moment?

I don't think Ellenberger or Story can beat Diego.  If Diego defeats Ellenberger, I hope to see him moved up on all of your WW ranking cards.  Any hope of that, my friends?

Bill Burgess..."Diego wasn't 100% when they met" shouldn't matter when it comes to rankings.  Diego showed up to fight, and he lost.  That's all that matters.

If Diego beats Ellenberger, of course he moves up.  However I don't think Diego is under-rated.
