I think George showed clearly during his fight at UFC 127 he is not in the top ranked LWs in the world. I don't think anyone can justify him in a top 5 or even top 10 spot at this point. Tt is probably a good Idea to update him out of there if you have him there.  Siver though showing promise lately wasn't even a top 15 prior to this fight, that is a terrible loss to have. If he had lost to a higher level fighter than Siver staying ranked could be justified but in this case most recent is the most important and it should be down the ladder for George.

I had George (at least) Top 20, but I think after this weekend he might haven't fallen a little lower....

He was making a case for himself prior but this loss is just too devastating to ignore. He doesn't have a lot of great wins and this is a bad loss. I think he's still top 20 but no longer top 10 or 15. It just makes it look silly for him to be a consensus #4 when he should have never been in the top 5 to begin with.

He'll still be in my top 10 for now because I think Aoki is very overrated, especially after his last fight, and Kenny Florian has already confirmed he's moving down to featherweight so no point in keeping him on the list.  I shouldn't have Benson as my #10 either, but I'm just gonna leave him there for now.

I don't like Aoki but I have to ignore his last fight unfortunately because of it's mixed rules it can't count on his record. It has to be viewed as an exhibition fight. For me that loss to Siver is too big a negative for G-Sot and now a top 10 ranking is pure potential or misperceived talent. His ground game is great but will he lose to any good striker who can stuff his TD?

I think to throw him out of the top 10 is very harsh .... He was 5th in mine before this fight i mean hes 8-1 in the ufc .... he lost 1 fight? so what.... St.Pierre lost to Serra (I LOVED IT!!) and hes still a great great fighter hopefully G-sot gets back to winning ways in his next fight.

I actually have the same 7 and 8 spots at LynxGuy. I think sometimes people get a little trigger happy with the rankings and drop guys out of the rankings for losing to an unranked fighter rather than giving the victor some credit and entering them into the rankings.

I think I've got GSot at 11 or 12 now.  This was a pretty bad fight for him, and coming off of a Joe Lauzon fight where I thought he looked pretty lost in the first round.

Joe Rogan's commentary was pretty good here... if he's a submission artist he needs to be more effective at getting takedowns.  Otherwise I think the majority of the guys in my top 10 would be able to use a similar strategy to Siver's in order to beat him.

Damn it! this forced me to update my 3 month old rankings. Siver has been on a tear lately, i dont think this drops Gsot out of the top 10 yet, had siver finished him i may think differently. Still a horrible showing for him though.

With the departure of Penn and Ken Flo from the lw division, I am gonna say G-Sot is still in my top 10. Siver was a tough opponent, I think Siver would give almost anyone at 155 problems. Sot was on quite a tear before this and I expect him to be back to his winning ways in no time, but who knows the 155 division is sooo stacked right now and with the surplus of Lw's from the WEC merger, you can be sure there will be all sorts of exciting fights filled with people fighting to not only make a statment in the division but also to keep there jobs.

George is definitely off my list after that performance. Get him some wrestling and he's back on the list.

sots is just hanging on for me at the #10 spot, but he could easily drop out of it while inactive if any one of a number of solid lightweights has a good outing in the next few months. pettis, guida, siver (who is now top 20 for me, but still below sots), cerrone, bocek, wiman and others could all be in that category.

what surprised me about that outing for sots is that he never deviated from the same single-leg takedown attempt even once it was clear it was not working. i don't recall a double leg or even an attempt to tie siver up the whole time. just single, single, single and none of them even looked close.

Only reason Sots is still top 10 in my rankings is because I had him #3 going into the Siver fight...He's still a top level guy, but his performance didn't show me that he was off his game...It looked like Siver's style and strength just gave Sots problems...I'd like to see Sots vs Melvin Guillard and Siver vs Sean Sherk after that fight.

I also had him to highly ranked prior to to drop him from the top 10.  Dennis Siver also flew up my rankings to being in the top 15.  I think with some work on takedowns Sots could become very dangerous for almost everyone in the division.

@skelliher I do give credit to Siver, the win got him in my top 15, where he was outside my top 30 prior. I only had Sotiropulous at 9 or 10 prior and dropping 6 spots isn't a horrendous drop for losing to someone more than 20 ranking slots below you. If Siver was closer to the top 15 and G-Sot had more quality wins (His best wins being a toss up between Pellegrino and Stevenson) then I would of been more kind. The LW division is so stacked you can't afford to lose to someone that much lower ranked than yourself, there are over 50 fighters on the UFC LW roster alone.

I'm still suprised that as of today, GSOT is still ranked 11th in the LW division.
I have two theories, either people aren't updating their rankings often,
OR
People are just calling the Siver loss bad luck and Dos Anjos KO a fluke

@MegaDave .. there is a lot of people that dont update there rankings and something needs to be fixed for this.. G-Sot is one of my favourite fighters but I have him ranked about 17 or 18 now I think.

I know... there aren't enough people updating their rankings to get a good solid community ranking.  I know @Gregory was working on a fix for that... or atleast it was on the agenda.

They should do it so that the rankings updated in the last month only count or some time frame like that.
